Join us at our workshop to practice “Dialogic Language Assessment: DLA” (MEXT, 2014) in 8 languages (Chinese, Portuguese, Spanish, Filipino, Vietnamese, Russian, English, and Japanese). DLA was originally designed to assess children's abilities not only in Japanese but also in multiple languages. Students designated as “Japanese Language Learners” are those who come from culturally and linguistically diverse (CLD) backgrounds. Observing students' abilities through a multilingual lens enables us to see the true potential of these children - the potential which might have remained hidden if looked at only from a monolingual perspective.

This workshop will walk you through each step of the DLA, and invite you to think about the roles of bi/multi-lingual supporters in schools. Learn about Multilingual DLA with active practitioners in 8 different languages!
